Training
Would you like to experience the wonders of the underwater world at first hand or do you want to take up scuba diving, but don‘t know how to start?
At Darwen Sub Aqua Club we have been training divers for over 50 years, and offer a wide range of scuba diving courses for:
- Complete beginners
- Experienced divers
- Divers crossing over from other training agencies, such as PADI
Learning to scuba dive is great fun and our qualified instructors can help to train you get the most from the wonders of the underwater world.

Diver Grades
The British Sub Aqua Club has been training people to dive since the early fifties. During this time the Diver Training Programme has been regularly updated and improved, to keep pace with developments in equipment and diving knowledge. The programme is designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost.
Diving skills are taught progressively so that each new experience is built upon step by step. Following basic training in the safety of a swimming pool or protected area, students soon complete their first open water dives to achieve Ocean Diver certification. This progression continues to Sports Diver and beyond, where open water skills and techniques are further developed and experience gained.

Experienced Divers
If you already have a diving qualification then Darwen Sub-Aqua Club can offer you a regular programme of dives and the opportunity to learn advanced techniques and specialised skills. But the real advantage is in having a group of dive buddies who meet regularly, both for diving and social events, with whom you can gain further experience. You can start diving with Darwen Sub-Aqua Club straight away. Your existing qualification will be recognised and you will be able to dive with us once you have joined.
If you are a member of another Club, come and say hello and join in with our trips and events as we regularly share trips events and resources with other clubs.
